A gun-toting robber with a scar on his face and plastic bags stuffed with stolen money fled a south Fort Collins bank Wednesday, police say.

Fort Collins police say the robbery occurred about 5:33 p.m. Wednesday at the Wells Fargo Bank at 320 E. Harmony Road, when a white male approached a teller and demanded money while a handgun was visible in the waistband of his jeans.

Police say the suspect never drew the gun from his waist and nobody was injured.

The suspect left the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash in plastic bags. He is described as approximately 5-foot-10 to 6-feet tall, clean shaven with dark hair and a scar on the right side of his face. He was wearing a gray T-shirt and jeans.

Colorado State Patrol is seeking a gray 2000 Toyota pickup they say was stolen out of Englewood. They believe the suspect, whose identity is unknown, was headed south on Interstate 25 in the truck, toward the Denver area. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

Forensics experts were on scene collecting trace evidence more than three hours after the robbery.

No video or photos taken from the bank’s surveillance system were immediately available, as police say the images are maintained outside Colorado.

The bank has been the site of at least three other robberies in the past three years. FCPS Sgt. Paul Wood said the bank’s proximity to I-25 could make it more attractive to robbers, though it’s not clear why it was hit in this case.
