Police Investigate Impersonator:

Fort Collins Police Services is asking for help in identifying a Police Impersonator who was reported to have made a traffic stop using an imitation law enforcement vehicle.  The victim reported this incident occurred near Zeigler Road and Paddington Road in Fort Collins on January 7, 2011 at approximately 3:20 PM.  The victim described the suspect’s vehicle as white in color, with police decals, and emergency lighting.  The suspect was dressed similar to a police officer, but did not appear to be armed.

Fort Collins Police Services would like to encourage citizens to be aware of these circumstances and use caution if they feel they are being stopped by a suspicious person.  If you suspect you are being stopped by a person impersonating a Police Officer, please dial 911 and drive carefully to a place of safety.  If there is any question about a document issued to you by a law enforcement officer, contact the issuing agency to confirm its legitimacy.
