Philadelphia Police continue to investigate the shooting death of a young Internet technology worker in Society Hill. Homicide occurred July 1, 2012:See TV program aired on this news story
Michael Hagan Jr., 32, of Fishtown, was a graduate of Drexel University who worked at a prestigious firm in Center City as an information technology consultant. On Saturday, investigators say Hagan went out with two friends and the three became separated near South Street. Early Sunday morning, just before 3:30 a.m., a passerby found Hagan shot to death with his wallet missing on 4th and Lombard in the Society Hill section of the city.
“He was face down,” said Hagan’s Uncle Ed Couture. “I think the initial call was they thought there was a drunk on the street. When they rolled Michael over they saw the gunshot wound and that’s when the police were contacted.”
Police suspect Hagan was the victim of a robbery gone bad.
“He was one of the good guys,” said Couture. “He wouldn’t hurt anybody and that’s why it’s such a waste, the violent death that he suffered.”
“It just hurts so much,” said Hagan’s Uncle Rick Peak while in tears. “He was taken away from our family.”
Hagan’s viewing was held earlier tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. Another viewing will take place Friday from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home at 6600 North Browning Road. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Stephen on 6300 Browning Road in Pennsauken.
The family is urging anyone with information on Hagan’s murder to call Philadelphia Police.
