A suspicious fire destroyed three vehicles belonging to CSU’s Housing & Dining Services early this morning, also damaging a fourth vehicle and scorching a nearby building in west Fort Collins.

The fire destroyed an eight-passenger Ford van and two Chevrolet pickups at the housing and dining service center, 1634 W. Plum. The fire also damaged a nearby gas valve, which utility workers quickly replaced.

This morning, stunned Colorado State University workers walked around the parking lot inspecting the damage. The vehicles tires have melted into the pavement and broken glass litters the parking lot.

Firefighters were called to the scene around 2:30 a.m.

“It has been deemed suspicious and the investigation is open and ongoing,” said Poudre Fire Authority spokesman Capt. Patrick Love.

Citing the ongoing investigation, Love declined to release additional details. Picture of fire damage.
